Radical Accountability & Financial Transparency:
1. The 10-Year Independent Audit: I am calling for a full, comprehensive, independent audit of district expenses over the last decade to provide a clear-eyed accounting of our district’s financial history. We must fully understand past spending patterns to ensure we never face another avoidable budget crisis again. This will help us truly understand where we are at financially as a district and prevent us from making future mistakes. This means uncovering past and current financial damage and finding real time solutions to fix them.2. A Measured Path Out of Statutory Operating Debt (SOD): Moving out of SOD is about reclaiming local independence through stability, not haste. I am committed to exploring all administrative efficiencies, grant opportunities, and gathering exhaustive community feedback before making high-stakes decisions. We will exit state oversight via a transparent, audited roadmap rather than rushing through painful cuts. By replacing closed-door budgeting with open dialogue, we will bridge the gap between financial recovery and public trust. This measured approach ensures a sustainable foundation for our students' future.3. Deliberate, Long-Term Financial Stewardship: The era of "fast-paced" decision-making that results in long-term damage and enrollment decline must end. I advocate for a comprehensive financial plan that incorporates all available data, including the 10-year audit, educator input, families input, and stakeholder input, to ensure every dollar is aligned with our educational mission. We will prioritize stability over shortcuts to ensure our district’s fiscal health for decades, not just the next fiscal quarter.4. Collaborative & Transparent Governance: I advocate for "Real-Time Solutions Sessions" where budgets and policies are evaluated alongside educators and families to act as architects of our budget during the draft phase rather than critics of a finished product. By hosting "Real-Time Solutions Sessions," we will empower. My commitment is to lead with objectivity, reducing bias, and prioritizing the collective voice of stakeholders over personal opinion to ensure our students and staff are deeply valued and heard.5. Superintendent Accountability: I believe the Board’s primary responsibility is to set firm, data-driven benchmarks for our district’s only direct employee: the Superintendent. I advocate for a culture of "Radical Accountability" where failure to meet safety, academic, or financial goals triggers immediate corrective action rather than upholding the status quo. We must hold our district leadership to the same rigorous standards of excellence we demand from our students every day.6. Rigorous Oversight: I will hold administration accountable by ensuring that the Board functions as a vigilant gatekeeper rather than a passive audience. While I value the expertise of our administrators, I will never vote on a recommendation I haven't scrutinized at a granular level to verify it aligns with our 10-year financial goals and student needs. This means asking the difficult questions before any action is taken. Our students and taxpayers deserve a board that fully understands the “what” and the “why” behind every dollar spent and every policy passed to ensure absolute fiscal and ethical integrity."
